Here It Comes Again! The Great Portage Yard Sale! It's time to plan another (the Fifth!) GREAT PORTAGE YARD SALE!. The date has been set for Saturday, May 19th. this is a good fund raiser for our organization, and of course, the more people who sign up to take part, the more successful it will be. Free maps will be available the morning of Saturday, May 19th, starting at 8:00 a.m. Location for map pickup is 804 Main Street (across from Portage National Bank). Our organization is having a table there so if you have something you'd like to donate, we'll be happy to take it, although we don't feel we can handle clothing. Many people are looking for antiques, but we'll be happy to take anything else you feel will sell. If you'd like us to pick up your items, please call Jo Steward at 736-9870. The printed form is available and if you want to have a sale at your home, please fill it out and send it in with your $5.00. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . Our "good will" light tour December 16, 2000, was a success again this year. Tom Gaudlip is to be commended. As usual, he had everything in place; all we had to do was make an appearance to give out tickets and treats! The highlight of the night was Santa Claus. The little ones were delighted. We also had an added attraction: rain, lightening, and thunder! . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . The death of Bernice Hoover October 27, 2000, was a loss for the Portage Station Museum. Bernice and husband Mahlon were volunteer greeters at the museum on Saturdays at least once a month. Very knowledgeable and dedicated, Bernice was a retired school teacher. a gentle and kind person, she volunteered for many causes. We shall miss her. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . So you remember when the Rivoli Theater looked like this? [Image Not Available] If you do, you're probably over 39 (to put it gently). this is our latest collective, and they won't be ready till spring. They will sell for $16.00, including tax. Postage and handling will be an extra $3.50. These may be ordered ahead of time, if you so desire. We will make a total of only 150 buildings. If you'd like to help (or to order a building) with the decoupaging, please call Barbara at 736-9703. You don't have to be skilled in the art to help.
